Breathing Meditation – Aas & Pas Approach

Wasit Aas and Pas approach

After we have practiced a few rounds of the Counting Approach, we will feel and know that our mind or feeling is getting more and more stillness, docility, awareness, and less distraction, in general.

Once we have had more experience of CA till we get used to counting forward and backward skillfully, our mind will feel tedious on such the repeated practice (this is another type of distraction.), and feel like there is no progress. This is because the mind has already developed into the higher meditation stage while the CA is now too awkward to respond. CA has now too many saying words and tasks. As a result, we need a new proper approach with more simplicity that fit our present minds or feeling, in a similar way of spitting out the spacecraft from the rocket at the particular stage.

Aas & Pas Approach is ready to replace.

Why don’t we practice Aas & Pas from the beginning of the session instead of CA?

This is because most of the beginners are weak in both mindfulness and meditation. Their minds and feeling are raw and harsh. Practicing the improper approaches would be easily distracted and would be given up on the practice finally. Like professional carpenters, they always use coarse sandpaper to sand their wood before applying the fine ones.

CA contributes more jobs and complicated jobs compared with Aas & Pas Approach. It makes the mind kept being busy on the counting method, and shoring up the chance of distraction. This is good for the beginners and for the beginning of the practice since it will be able to sustain and carry the mindfulness throughout the meditative session.

Simply

First, we need to do is just to replace the said word of “Counting 1-10 with Aas & Pas.

Second, we now need to pin the FP on where it is presented obviously.

Then, try to memorize this pinned FP by imaginary since we will concentrate on it in the next thrones from now on.

Continuously say “ Aas… Aas… Aas…..” over the FP while breathing in up until the utmost end of the inhalation.

Continuously say “ Pas…Pas…Pas…..” over the FP while breathing out up until the utmost end of the exhalation.
